Employment & Labor

Practical legal support for contracts, policies, disputes and workforce compliance

Employment law is where a company's internal decisions meet mandatory rules it cannot contract out of. Our practice advises employers on the full life-cycle of the relationship — hiring, contracts, policies, restructuring, discipline and termination — and defends them when a decision is challenged.

Most of the disputes we are asked to handle can be traced to a document that was never adapted to Jordanian law: a probation period longer than the Labour Law permits, an end-of-service calculation based on the wrong salary component, a restrictive covenant drafted for another jurisdiction, or a dismissal carried out without the process the law requires. We review those documents before they become exhibits.

We also handle the workforce side of transactions and cross-border arrangements: transfers of employees on a business sale, secondments, work permits and residency for foreign staff, employee share and incentive plans, and the social security and payroll consequences of each structure.

We also act preventively. A short annual review of contracts, payroll practice and disciplinary records costs a fraction of a single defended claim, and it is the only reliable way to find the exposure that accumulates quietly — a policy that was updated in the handbook but never in the signed contracts, or an allowance that has been paid long enough to have become a contractual entitlement.
